Envisioning a Future of Community Co-Creation through Technology

Research Vision

Advances in digital technology are transforming how people communicate and how local communities function. However, technological progress alone does not necessarily strengthen community connections or encourage active resident participation. What matters is how technology can support collaboration and help communities address local challenges. We explore new forms of community co-creation in which residents use digital technologies to envision and shape the future of their communities together.
Working with neighborhood associations and other local communities, we explore the use of digital tools for information sharing, decision-making, and identifying and addressing local challenges. We examine how the introduction of these technologies influences resident participation and community management, while seeking approaches suited to different local contexts. By using technology to connect people and support collaboration among diverse stakeholders, we aim to foster communities where residents take the lead in envisioning and realizing their shared futures.
